Microsoft Teams Phone System Licensing Requirements

2020 has seen a massive increase in the number of businesses using Microsoft Teams. Did you know that there is a licensing add-on to Microsoft/Office 365 that enables you to use Teams as your business phone system? This means your staff can access their business phone whether they are working from home or the office.

The challenge for many businesses is up until recently the add-on was only available for customers with Enterprise licensing. The great news is you can now access an add-on license without the need for Enterprise licensing, the bad news is it can be confusing working out what license you require! If you are based in Australia the three licensing options are:

Option 1
If your business has Microsoft 365 Business Basic/Standard/Premium Licensing you will require the add-on ‘Microsoft 365 Business Voice without Calling Plan’ for each user who requires voice calling.

Option 2
If your business has Microsoft/Office 365 E1/E3 Licensing you will require the add-on ‘Microsoft 365 Phone System’ for each user who requires voice calling.

Option 3
If your business has Microsoft/Office 365 E5 you already have access to the Microsoft Phone System.

For pricing we recommend you contact your existing Microsoft Licensing provider or contact our sales team for licensing options with Ace.

Don’t forget in addition to your Microsoft Licensing you will also require a Teams Voice Calling Plan. Check out the Ace Microsoft Teams Voice Calling Plans online here.
